  1. I am looking for more info on Bob Edgington. I know he came to WJBK in Detroit from WOWO in Fort Wayne. How long was he at the Detroit station and where did he go from there? Thanks.

    1. Bob edgington is my father. After wjbk we went to Pittsburgh. Not sure what station. By 1972 we were back in Detroit where he went to channel 2. He was an announcer there until he retired in 1985. He passed away July 17, 1986.

      1. Bob E. was a good friend of my father. They were in the U.S. Marines together. Bob also stood up for my father, Robert L. French in both of his weddings. My mother, Shirley, passed away when I was 14 and my father later remarried which explains the second wedding. My mother, Shirley, knew Bob well too. I remember seeing pictures of your mother. After my father’s second wedding, Bob (your dad) took me down to the WJBK station for the night while he did his radio show. Lots of stories there. After I graduated from Taylor Center High School and went to Henry Ford Community College for a year, I went into the U.S. Navy. After that I only saw Bob E. one more time for a short visit when he was living off of Michigan Ave. in Dearborn. Bob was a fun guy (married 3 times if I remember correctly). I got to meet his daughter (guess that was you, Laura) one time when he was living in the Downriver area. I believe it was for a Christmas or New Year’s Eve party. He was married to Mary then. Believe it or not, I can still vividly remember much of that night as being fun and interesting, since I just met nice girl. Throughout my life I’ve been blessed (so far) with a very good memory.
I’m Robert E. French Sr. Please do get confused by the “Senor” being part of my name. Since my father has a different middle name and I have a Robert E. French Jr. , I now the Senior. Your father used to come by our house back then a lot when we lived on Mortenview Dr. in Taylor, MI. Since this site says that my email will not publish, here it is so feel free to contact me at bfrench44@cox.net. Once you contact me, I’d love to then be able speak to you.
Just an interesting fact about my dad’s second wedding to Ann, all of the men who stood up for my dad in his second wedding were all Bob’s, not to count the son (me) sitting in the audience. There was Bob D. (Doroty), Bob E. (Edgington, your father) Bob F.(French, my dad the groom) and then Bob G. (Glise, his new brother-in-law). Let’s just say that in my younger years and up through high school your dad was like an uncle to me. He even came to see me play the part of the
‘Prince”, in “The King & I” when I was in high school. I remember your dad’s stories about when he was in the play “Oliver”. Call me and I we will see if you can remember a KEY part of his story on that subject.
Oh, and F.Y.I. – I thought you was really cute when I met you that night.
Since my navy days I’ve been here in Virginia Beach, VA., the last 41 right here in this same house and been married to Barb for the last 42 years. On the back window of my Tundra truck, I’ve got a decal of the Detroit Tiger’s “D” with roots. I’ve always said, “Detroit is a great place to be from, just NEVER go back.
Contact me, it would be fun to talk more about your dad.

        Bob Sr.

  2. Hi Laura,
Thanks for responding. I am wondering if you might email me at osmondesign@gmail.com? I have a family link to Bob, and would really like to connect with you to share information if possible. Again, I really appreciate your response to my question!
